Pope Francis reached the two-week mark in his recovery from pneumonia Friday as doctors suggested he had overcome the most critical phase of the infection but held out on declaring him out of danger entirely.

The faithful continue to gather at St. Peter's Square and churches around Rome to pray for the health of the pontiff.

Pope Francis is improving after spending the past two weeks hospitalized with double pneumonia, but the Vatican said his prognosis is "guarded" until he's stable for a few more days.
