After decades of development and trials, Medtronic has secured U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for adaptive technology personalizing treatment of Parkinson’s symptoms using advanced stimulation deep in the brain.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Medtronic's deep brain stimulation system for use in patients with Parkinson's disease, the medical device maker said on Monday.

The FDA’s authorisation of Medtronic’s BrainSense follows the system’s receipt of a CE mark in Europe last month.
