Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Friday claimed to have fired a missile at Israel's Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. This came a day after Israeli airstrikes targeted Sanaa's international airport and other locations in Houthi-controlled areas.

JERUSALEM (AP) — A new round of Israeli airstrikes in Yemen on Thursday targeted the Houthi rebel-held capital of Sanaa and multiple ports, while the World Health Organization’s director-general said the bombardment occurred nearby as he prepared to board a flight in Sanaa, with a crew member injured.

The Houthis claimed responsibility for the strike in the Jaffa area and celebrated the Israel Defense Forces’ failed attempt to intercept the missile.

At least 16 people were injured in a missile strike on Tel Aviv, the economic centre of Israel, in the early hours of Saturday.

No children were present in the building. The rocket was fired as Israeli fighter jets were on their way to Yemen to target Houthi positions there.

Sirens were heard in the Tel Aviv area in the early hours of Friday (December 27) morning following a missile launched from Yemen, the Israeli military reported, hours after Israel struck multiple targets linked to the Houthi movement on Thursday (December 26).
