James Jackson, first Black chief of Columbus police, dies at 91
The longest-serving and the first Black chief of the Columbus Division of Police died Thursday at the age of 91. James G. Jackson, the namesake of the police division's training academy on Hague Avenue, was named police chief in 1990. He served more than 19 years before stepping down in 2009.
