A sinkhole that took out the shoulder and right lane of Interstate 80 east in Morris County is expected to be repaired and scheduled to reopen to traffic at 9 a.m. Monday, state Department of Transportation officials said.

Interstate 80 eastbound in Wharton, New Jersey is now reopen after a sinkhole shutdown the roadway late last week. Emergency repairs were completed around 8 o’clock Monday morning. Repairs included excavating and stabilizing the 40-foot by 40-foot sinkhole,

I-80 eastbound is scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m. Monday in Wharton, NJ, if the weather cooperates. The sinkhole opened up around 7:45 a.m. Thursday just past Exit 34 in Wharton, swallowing a portion of the shoulder and encroaching on the right lane going eastbound.
