Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Kansas City’s Broadway Gillham neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

The Kansas City Police Department is investigating after a man was found dead in a business parking lot Thursday afternoon.

Police have not identified a person of interest in the shooting, and no arrests were made Wednesday night, according to Gonzalez. Wednesday’s shooting was the 135th homicide reported in Kansas City in 2024, according to data collected by The Star. At this time last year, 164 homicides had been reported in the city.

WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Detectives investigating a deadly shooting in Wyandotte County have identified the victim as 21-year-old Daniel Thurman, according to Kansas City, Kansas Police. Just after 5p.m. Nov. 8 officers were dispatched to a shooting at a residence in the area of N. 6th Street and Splitlog Avenue, according to a media release.

Police were called to the 5600 block of East 69th Street around 6:30 p.m. where they found a man with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, but died several hours later, according to Sgt. Philip DiMartino, spokesperson with the Kansas City Police Department.
