New York — Two attorneys representing Rudy Giuliani in a lawsuit related to a $148 million defamation judgment against him have asked a judge to remove them from the case over disagreements with the former New York City mayor.

As the threat of civil contempt hangs over their client’s head, attorneys for Rudy Giuliani told a judge they want to stop representing him in a case involving a $148 million debt Giuliani owes to two election workers he defamed in 2020.

His lawyers hinted they want to quit over a "fundamental disagreement" -- or when a client "insists on presenting a claim or defense that is not warranted under existing law."

Attorneys representing former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed motions Wednesday to withdraw from a defamation case brought by two former Fulton County election workers.

The request comes one day before the former Trump attorney is supposed to turn over property and financial records to the two election workers he defamed.

Rudy Giuliani's lawyers no longer want to represent him in the civil case stemming from his defamation of former Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, who are attempting to collect on the multimillion dollar judgment they won against him.

The lawyers who have been representing Rudy Giuliani are trying to quit his defamation case because of disagreements with him, according to new court filings, as a Friday deadline nears for the former New York City mayor to turn over many of his most valuable possessions to two Georgia election workers to whom he owes nearly $150 million.
