The Eagles braced for a potential departure of Becton, as they traded for former first-round pick Kenyon Green in a deal that sent safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans. Philadelphia sent a 2026 sixth-round pick to Houston in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick in the deal.

Mekhi Becton - the team's starting right guard last season - signed a new two-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. Ian Rappaport of NFL Network stated the deal is worth close to $20 million. That compensation is expected to give the Eagles a fifth-round compensatory pick in the 2026 Draft.

Philadelphia did most of its heavy-lifting last week, signing Saquon Barkley to a historic contract extension and re-signing All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun. While Baun is back, the Birds are expected to lose some of their free agents.
