August Krug founded the Schlitz Brewing Company in Milwaukee in 1849, with ownership passed to Joseph Schlitz in 1858 when he married Krug’s widow.
Herman Uihlein was the son of the president of Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. Construction of the home was completed in 1919.
