Mike Vrabel and the Patriots are starting the process of building their coaching staff. Here are all of the latest updates.

On Monday, Vrabel made a number of key hires to add some experience and pedigree to his coaching staff. Former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone is joining Vrabel's staff, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Marrone most recently served as the offensive line coach for the New Orleans Saints in 2023.

John Streicher will reunite with Mike Vrabel with the Patriots, Mike Reiss of ESPN reports. Streicher spent six seasons in Tennessee with Vrabel, serving as assistant to the head coach (2018-19), football development coordinator (2020-22) and director of football administration (2023).

Belichick remained with the Patriots in 2024 with Jerod Mayo has head coach despite his father being fired after the 2023 season. His brother, Steve, also left the Patriots after the 2023 season. Mayo was fired after the 2024 season and replaced by Mike Vrabel.

Under Covington and Jerod Mayo, the Patriots defense regressed mightily in 2024. They finished 22nd in both total defense and scoring defense, and the scoring defense mark was New England’s worst since 1995. Bill Belichick’s teams never finished lower than 17th.
