The Metro Nashville Police Department opted to permanently add a third school resource officer to Antioch High School as students return Tuesday.
Metro Schools is doing a trial run of the weapon detection system at Antioch High School and said it could expand to other schools.
Tuesday’s goal, according to the students leading the rally, was to create a space where mental health was prioritized with grief counseling and community building activities.
A student opened fire inside Antioch High School, shooting two other students and then himself, the authorities said. A female student and the shooter were killed, officials said.
