Trump’s team is asking federal employees to develop rationales for funding cuts to the state, including citing noncompliance with the president’s executive orders.

The Trump administration is preparing to cancel a large swath of federal funding to California, an effort which could begin as soon as Friday, according to multiple sources.

The threat to cut off California follows a 315-page report published by the Federal Railroad Administration that claims California has missed several deadlines related to the high-speed rail and has failed to identify how it will secure $7 billion in funding to build a segment of rail between Merced and Bakersfield,

California Gov. Gavin Newsom condemned the Trump administration’s move to send the California National Guard into Los Angeles to handle immigration protests.

In a statement Saturday night, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the president was deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles.
