The NBA's top-two MVP candidates—Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander—faced off in back-to-back games between the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday and Monday. Jokic and Gilgeous-Alexander got to directly go up against each other, and each prove their merits for the award.

San Antonio Spurs point guard Chris Paul picked this season’s MVP, Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Like Jalen Williams watched his Thunder beat the Celtics, Paul watched Oklahoma City beat the champions. He made it clear to whom he believed the award should go.

After the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets split a back-to-back, those who hoped the two-game set clarified the MVP race sadly didn't receive any. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 40 points and blew out the Nuggets in Sunday's game. Jokic got his lick back Monday with a near 35-point triple-double and double-digit win over the Thunder.

The MVP race was never going to be decided by two games in March, but if fans and voters hoped to come out of the Denver vs. Oklahoma City back-to-back with some clarity on whether Nikola Jokic or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wins the award,
