Monty, a 5-year-old giant schnauzer, was crowned the best in show at the 149th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York.

NEW YORK, NY (WTVG) - A local dog and his human won big at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this week. Comet, a Shih Tzu, was the winner of the Toy Group. The 4-year-old dog took center stage at Madison Square Garden this week with his handler, Luke Ehricht, of Monclova. The judge picked Comet as winner of the Toy Group over 25 other dogs.

Monty's competition included a bichon frisé called Neal, a Skye terrier named Archer, a whippet and repeat runner-up known as Bourbon and a shih tzu called Comet who's been a finalist before.
