A federal scientific publication has returned from a forced two-week hiatus with two papers examining the health effects of wildfires in Hawaii and California

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention resumed publishing its weekly scientific report Thursday after an unprecedented pause, but information about the bird flu virus that was supposed to appear remained on hold even as the outbreak spreads.

Jan. 31, the CDC's chief science officer sent an internal email that informed the agency’s division heads that all papers written or co-written by CDC scientists are being withdrawn and that agency scientists should take their names off of papers they are collaborating on with external scientists, Reuters reported.
