Josh Giddey made a halfcourt heave at the buzzer to cap perhaps the wildest finish in the NBA this season, giving the Chicago Bulls a 119-117 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.

To start, star forward LeBron James turned the ball over while the Lakers were up two. This led to a 3-point shot from the Bulls, giving them the lead. Los Angeles retook the lead with under four seconds left in the game. But guard Josh Giddey then hit an incredible half-court buzzer-beater to sink the Lakers.

LeBron James is one of the best players in NBA history, and some great players have never been able to defeat James in a playoff series.

The Lakers led by as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter and by five with 12.6 seconds left before their epic collapse, but they can’t feel sorry for themselves with Memphis on deck Saturday.

The Lakers, however, suffered a devastating loss, joining an exclusive club as only the fifth team in NBA history to experience consecutive victories and defeats via buzzer-beaters. Lakers coach JJ Redick described the situation succinctly: "Devastation. It's a hell of a way to lose a basketball game."
