Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly considering a shift of iPhone assembly to India. However, a renowned analyst has expressed skepticism about the potential effectiveness of this move in mitigating the impact of China tariffs.

India’s manufacturing share, depending on estimates, ranged between 10% to 20% at the end of 2024. Apple’s global iPhone shipments for the year were 232.1 million.

Leading analyst Craig Moffett suggests any plans to move U.S. iPhone assembly to India is unrealistic. Moffett, ranked as a top analyst multiple times by Institutional Investor, sent a memo to clients on Friday after the Financial Times reported Apple was aiming to shift production toward India from China by the end of next year.
