On Tuesday, York County Regional Police Department released a mugshot photo of Archangel-Ortiz from 2016, when he was cited for harassment — subjecting someone to physical contact—and also faced an indirect criminal contempt charge related to violating a protection from abuse order filed by a former girlfriend.

A gunman took hostages at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, resulting in the death of Officer Andrew Duarte and injuries to five others.

Diogenes Archangel-Ortiz died of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner said. His manner of death was ruled a homicide, in that he "died at the hands of another."
