Carlos Alcaraz overcame an inspired opponent and the sweltering London heat to reach the quarterfinal at Queen’s, beating compatriot Jaume Munar 6-4, 6-7(9), 7-5 in an epic contest that lasted three hours and 23 minutes.

The semifinals at the ATP Queen’s Club Championships will feature a combination of young talent and experience on a day of tennis that promises plenty of entertainment for the fans in west London.

Alcaraz needed three hours and 23 minutes to beat countryman Jaume Munar 6-4 6-7 (7) 7-5 in the second round. But he wasn’t always his positive self during the match. He approached the umpire after becoming frustrated with the speed of the shot clock and, later in the evening, said: “They have to change that.”
